What got me originally inspired with photography was when I took this old Nikon Coolpix S4300 camera on a weeklong trip to West Virginia, leaving my phone behind. Compared to my phone, the quality was worse, but it was more enjoyable to take photos. The photos also looked decent despite the camera only being around 5 megapixels.
When I got back from the trip, I decided to look into purchasing a camera I could use to take better pictures with and be a little more "professional". After talking to one of my friends about this, he said I could borrow his Nikon D3300 for a week. I gladly accepted and took it for a spin, taking pictures of stuff around the house, at parks, etc. When I gave it back, I had enjoyed the time spent with the camera, so I started the Ebay hunt to find one for a good deal.
I decided on this one listing for $375 (A little more than I would have liked) and came with the camera, two lens, (one 18-55mm & 55-200mm) a couple filters, extra battery, and some other misc items. I felt like it was a good deal because of the multiple lens for flexibility and the ability to get close-up shots.
I have learned a lot already about ISO, Shutter Speed, Aperture, etc. and looking forward to what pictures I will take next. Previously, this has been an unexplored hobby that I haven't given much thought to. Now, whenever I go to places I think about where a photo would look cool and overall appreciate the surroundings around me to a greater extent.
Each of these pictures have been edited in Adobe Lightroom and RawTherapee to some capacity so they can look better and have their best qualites drawn out. I have only had the camera for a couple weeks at this point (Aug. 2021).
Ken Rockwell's website has been very helpful to me in learning more about the features on my camera and about photography in general. If you are interested, I reccomend you take a look:
